THE PHILARMONIA BRASILEIRA PRODUCTIONS HISTORY
In 1994 Philarmonia Brasileira was founded by the Professor and Conductor Gil Jardim, with the initial purpose of administrating the Philarmonia Brasileira Orchestra.
Working in both classical and popular music fields as well as theater and arts in general, Philarmonia grew fast developing new oportunities in prodution and business related to the arts, as well as courses and educational projects.
In 2001, Philarmonia was joined by Annelise Godoy(MBA- FGV-Sao Paulo, 1994). After working 15 years in important agencies such as McCann-Erickson, J.W.Thompson and Ogilvy in Brazil and being Director of the Marketing and Business Managment of the Alfa Institute of Cuture as wel as Director of the Friend of the Image and Sound Museum, she brought her experience to Philarmonia.
Today, Philarmonia works in partnership with several Governamental Agencies as well as national and international companies such as Unilever, Kibon, Chase Manhattan, Petrobrás and the Miami Performing Arts Center, among others, developing a range of cultural products as well as structuring and assisting cultural projects.
In 2005 Philarmonia Brasileira was the only producer to represent Villa-Lobos at the Brasil France Year in Paris. In this same year produced the Diapason Prized CD, Villa-Lobos at Paris, a reconstruction of Villa-Lobos first international concert, in 1924.
THE CONDUCTOR
Gil Jardim, maestro and faculty member, head of the Department of Music of the School of Communications and Arts at the University of São Paulo. Since 2005, he has been the Art Director and Conductor of both the Brazilian Philharmonic Orchestra, which he founded in 1994, and the Chamber Orchestra of the University of São Paulo, founded in 2001. He has also participated in important international and national symphonic orchestras, with a classical and popular musical approach.
Gil Jardim has developed a very unique ability to fuse Brazilian ethnic and classical music, setting musical standards and achieving highly artistic results. Among these fusion works, we could highlight concerts with distinguished music performers such as Egberto Gismonti, Milton Nascimento and Naná Vasconcelos.
Outside Brazil, he has conducted the Brooklyn Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, (NY, USA), the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, (LO, England), the Camerata Mexicana (MX), with chamber part of the Brazilian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Regionalle del Lazio i Roma Orchestra, (IT) and the Orquesta de Cámara Mayo, in Argentina.
In 2006, he conducted more than 28 Chamber Orchestra presentations.
He was reelected Head of the Music Department at the University of São Paulo in 2007, promoting one of the most extensive modernization programmes in this sector. In addition to acquiring recognition during the 32 shows with the Chamber Orchestra in the 2007-2008 season, Gil Jardim returned to the Brazilian Philharmonic Orchestra, closing 2007 with Measha Brugergossmann in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. For 2008, he is directing three international festivals through the university: Strings, Percussion and the Leo Brower musical gathering.
