In 1994 Philarmonia Brasileira was founded by Professor and Conductor Gil Jardim, with the initial purpose of administrating the Philarmonia Brasileira Orchestra.
Working in both classical and popular music fields as well as theatre and arts in general, Philarmonia grew fast developing new opportunities in production and business related to the arts, specially music, as well as educational projects.
In 2001, Annelise Godoy (MBA- FGV-São Paulo, 1994) joined Philarmonia as Executive Director. After working 15 years in prominent agencies such as McCann-Erickson, J.W.Thompson and Ogilvy& Mather, Communication Manager for ABN Amro Brazil, Chief Executive of Marketing and Business Management of the Alfa Institute of Culture as well as Director of the São Paulo State Image and Sound Museum, she brought her experience to Philarmonia to diversify its expertise and to broaden its activities to different areas.
Today, Philarmonia works in partnership with several Governmental Agencies as well as national and international companies such as Unilever, Kibon, Chase Manhattan, Petrobrás, the Miami Performing Arts Center (today Carnival Center), among other important institutions, developing a range of cultural products and structuring and assisting cultural projects for different associations and companies.
In 2005 Philarmonia Brasileira was the only Brazilian company to represent Villa-Lobos at the Brasil France Year in Paris. In this same year the company launched the Diapason Prized CD, Villa-Lobos at Paris, a reconstruction of Villa-Lobos first international concert in 1924.
The Philarmonia Brasileira Orchestra has never spot its activities, however it is not an orchestra that has a permanent maintainance structure. Even though, has realized many important events and it is recognized as one of the best orchestra of the country.
In 2008, besides the great tournee in the USA and was indicated amongst the best 10 concerts in Rio de Janeiro e São Paulo with the Canadian soloist Measha Bruggergosmann.
